Before we begin we'll say it here. We have a strict no palm oil policy and will never use it. Sustainability and preservation of the environment are two key principles of Palm & Pine. The only thing we take from palm trees is inspiration. All of our ingredients are sustainably sourced and we will be actively monitoring our supply chain to ensure that we maintain this standard. Always.

Palm & Pine ingredients
When you look at the ingredients list, it's easy to think wow... there's some scary sounding ingredients in there but fear not, we're here to break it down and tell you exactly what's inside Palm & Pine.
INCI vs Common Names
Ingredients by law have to be listed by their 'INCI' name. So what does that mean?
"The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, abbreviated INCI, are the unique identifiers for cosmetic ingredients such as waxes, oils, pigments, and other chemicals that are assigned in accordance with rules established by the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), previously the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA). INCI names often differ greatly from more common trivial names and is a mixture of conventional scientific names, Latin and English words".
Basically, it's a naming protocol that makes lovely ingredients sound way scarier than they really are. Let's not forget the chemical name for water is hydrogen dioxide.
So let's break it down.

| Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride | Derived from coconuts this ingredient is full of antioxidants helping to smooth and moisturise skin. It can also be derived from palm oil but we have a strict zero palm oil policy. Always. |
| Polyhydroxystearic Acid | A plant-based emulsifier which is added to bind other ingredients together making a more stable formula. |
| Isoamyl Laurate | A plant based skin conditioner and moisturiser which forms a film over the skin, protecting it from damage. |
| Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate | Derived from olives it hydrates and soothes skin. |
| Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables |
Derived from olives it softens skin by adding a protective film and reducing greasiness.

| Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate |
Derived from sunflower Seed Oil and Vegetable Glycerine it acts as an emulsifier (enables water & oil to mix) to creams with very good hot and cold stability.

| Polyhydroxystearic Acid |
Derived from castor oil this is a natural-based wax that adds a coating onto the Zinc Oxide particles that give sun protection to help with even distribution within the formulation.

| Triheptanoin |
A light, oily solution that works to make the skin soft and smooth.

| Butyrospermum Parkii Butter | AKA Shea Butter. A naturally produced skin conditioner that tones and smoothes blemishes whilst adding moisture. |
| Benzyl alcohol | Derived from fruit to act as a preservative whilst also providing antioxidants to the skin and binding ingredients together. |
| Glyceryl Laurate | Derived from plants this ingredient acts to stabilize the viscosity of the formula |
| Sodium Chloride | AKA Cosmetic grade salt which when used in very small amounts improves the texture and stability of the formula. |
| Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil | Rich in antioxidants this ingredient is used to lock moisture into the skin and give a smooth conditioning affect. |
| Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice | AKA Aloe Vera. This provides a rich source of antioxidants which soothe and protect your skin |
| Hamamelis Virginiana Leaf Extract | AKA Witch Hazel Extract it enhances the appearance of dry or damaged skin and helps to restore the suppleness. |
| Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract | Derived from the chamomile plant this helps moisturise the skin which softens and gives suppleness. |
| Tilia Cordata Flower Extract | Derived from the Linden tree (AKA the Lime Tree in the UK) this offers skin protection. Locking in moisture, providing anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. |
| Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract | AKA Lemon Balm, this provides antiviral, antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties to our formula. |
| Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract | Derived from marigold flowers this light oil stimulates collagen production and reduces the occurrence of dry skin. Calendula is a naturally occurring antioxidant. |
| Echinacea Purpurea Extract | Derived from the Echinacea plant (AKA the Coneflower) this ingredient boosts the skin's own moisturising properties by protecting skin from oxidative stress and improving hydration of skin. |
| Centella Asiatica Extract | This natural ingredient helps to heal the skin by speeding up skin cell production and collagen synthesis. It's also antibacterial and can increase antioxidant activity and blood vessel formation. |
| Potassium Sorbate | Derived from the vibrant berries of the Rowan Tree this ingredient provides anti-microbial benefits to our formula whilst acting as a preservative. |
| Sodium Benzoate |
A natural ingredient used to preserve our formula.

| Citric Acid | Found naturally in the juice of citric fruits such as lemons this ingredient promotes new skin growth and can help alleviate the appearance of age spots, acne scars, small wrinkles, and areas of uneven tone and texture. |
| Sodium Phytate | This natural ingredient, derived from plant tissues is used to bond the ingredients in our formula adding stability. |

| Refined & Winterised Avocado Oil | Avocado oil. Moisturises and protects your skin from damaging UV rays whilst also increasing collagen metabolism. |
| Zinc Oxide | A natural mineral that provides the sun protection ingredient in our formulas. |
| Titanium Dioxide | A natural mineral that provides the sun protection ingredient in our formulas. |
| Alumina | A natural mineral that provides stability to the formula whilst assisting the Zinc and Titanium Oxide to protect the skin from UV rays. With a very high safety rating this is not the toxic aluminium found in some antiperspirants. |
| Jojoba Esters |
Derived from the Jojoba plant, with antibacterial and soothing properties this natural ingredient protects and moisturises your skin.

| Tocopherol | Derived from Sunflower seeds this wonder ingredient is packed full of Vitamin E and antioxidants that moisturise and protect your skin. |
| Ascorbyl Palmitate | Rich in Vitamin C this natural ingredient is used to even skin tone and blemishes whilst protecting from environmental elements. |
| Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil | Derived from Sunflower seeds this ingredient locks in moisture and is a fantastic source of antioxidants. |
| Lecithin | Derived from plant tissues this ingredient conditions and moisturises the skin. |
| Helianthus Annuus Seed Wax | Derived from Sunflower seeds this wax adds waterproofing to the formula whilst also benefiting the skin, The excellent thermal properties of this wax allow our formula to remain stable and consistent at a wide range of temperatures. |
| Iron Oxides | A naturally derived mineral that adds the skin tone colour to our formula whilst also assisting Titanium and Zinc Oxide to shield the skin from harmful UV rays. |
So there you have it. Each sustainably sourced Palm & Pine ingredient comes from natural origin and is present in our products to protect and nourish your skin, and at the same time ensure that the products are correctly preserved to prevent bacteria from developing. Both products are tested to EU and ISO standards to ensure that we are not only good for your skin but safe too.
